Safe on the road with Ampfibian – Wanderer March 2016
Safe on the road with Ampfibian!
The Wanderer Magazine recently published an article featuring the Ampfibian MAX. It touched on some very important points surrounding safety and peace of mind while on the road (and at home!).
Preparation is everything before you hit the road, whether your trip is going to be a long or a short one. There are the cupboards to pack, the fridge to stock and making sure everything is working just fine before you set off.
Until now it has been commonplace for RV owners to make up their own power adapters to connect their RV’s 15A inlet to their 10A home powerpoint to charge their house battery and check the electrics.
Homemade plug connections, or “death leads” as they are also known (for good reason) are illegally modified equipment. Using a lead such as this is incredibly dangerous, would invalidate your RV and home insurance and could result in police charges…”
NOTE: This article features the Ampfibian MAX: the Ampfibian MINI-BLACK is New Zealand’s equivalent adaptor (weatherproof to IP44 – rain from all directions).

From Travellers to Tradies
Over the years more and more tradies adopted the Ampfibian MAX for use one sites to connect their 15Amp gear to 10Amp outlets. Fully certified, happily tested and tagged, they could keep working when the blokes with the dodgy “death leads” got kicked off site (and rightly so!).
Now available from Bunnings stores nationwide, Ampfibian is proud to make tradesmens’ lives safer and more convenient. Check out this great article published in “The Tradie“, which gives a detailed insight of why it’s always a good idea to use an Ampfibian!

WARRANTY MATTERS
One of the big benefits of buying a locally made product is the reassurance that support is never far away. A local, highly visible manufacturer is much more obligated to fulfil their post-sale obligations to their customer. We have always stood by the quality design and construction of our products, and have looked after all our buyers.
We wanted to formalise this to give our customers piece of mind, and are now officially offering a two year warranty on all Ampfibian products against manufacturing defects.

AMPFIBIAN LAUNCHES NEW PRODUCT!
It’s a big day for Ampfibian: after many months of blood, sweat and tears, we welcome a new member to our product lineup: the Ampfibian MINI.
Engineered and manufactured to the same high Ampfibian standard, this new 15A to 10A adaptor is available at an aggressively lower price. This was achieved by removing some of the industrial grade features of the MAX (formerly RV02-MAX).
“The Ampfibian MINI is for people who want a high quality Australian made product, but don’t need the weatherproofing or heavy duty industrial features of the MAX.
“With the addition of the MINI to Ampfibian’s product range, people now have a choice of products to match their needs”, said company founder David Betterridge.
The Ampfibian MINI contains protection certified to comply with ANZ electrical standards, allowing safe and legal connection between 10A and 15A. The Ampfibian MINI achieves this by cutting the current if it exceeds 10A (2400W). It also provides personal protection from electric shocks using a residual current device (RCD), which can be caused by faulty wiring or appliances.
The MINI is available now, just in time for Christmas!

CONCRETE CUTTERS INVESTMENT PAYS OFF
Ampfibian founder and director David Betterridge recently present to the Queensland chapter of the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association of Australia (CSDAA). David was invited to present by Catherine Thompson, Executive Member of the CSDAA and Managing Director of Queensland Concrete Drilling & Cutting Pty Ltd.
Catherine has been using a couple of Ampfibian RV02-MAXes in her business to safely and legally connect 15A cutting equipment. Most construction sites typically provide 10A regular outlets and 3 phase power, but lack dedicated 15A (flat-pin) outlets.
Catherine’s investment in those Ampfibian units was repaid handsomely, when two other concrete cutting firms were ejected from a construction site, because they used illegally modified leads to connect their equipment. These other businesses created a hazardous electrical environment for themselves, endangered the wiring and electricity supply of the site, and invalidated their own insurance.
Illegally modified 10A-15A leads, or “death-leads”, circumvent the inherent lock-out protection afforded by Australian Standards. If illegally modified equipment is found to have contributed to an accident, it will invalidate any insurance cover and can result in criminal charges being laid.
As a spokesperson and with a high profile in her industry, Catherine has been pro-active in ensuring that her business operates to the highest safety and legal standards. For her it’s not just about following the letter of the law, but ensuring that all her employees enjoy the safest possible working environment.
It’s about making sure everyone returns safely home from work.
