The test button turns the unit off: make sure you turn the toggle switch back ON after testing it!
The lid covering the switch is purposefully difficult to open (so it doesn’t happen accidentally). If you’re struggling to open it, use a 20 cent coin (or a flat bladed screwdriver) and gently apply it like this.
You’ll almost always get a bit of condensation inside the housing. This is not a problem unless there’s more than about a table spoon’s worth of water. If you’re worried, then turn off the power supply, open the unit and wipe it dry. Make sure it’s properly closed again. It’s best to store the unit without the lids fully closed.

Please make sure the lid is fully seated and both lid clips are fully engaged when closing the unit or it won’t be fully weatherproof!

Lifting the surge cartridge out of the weatherproof housing helps to insert the caravan power lead!
Make sure caravan power lead is firmly and fully inserted into the surge protector!
Try to push a bit of lead up into the housing before fully closing it!
Ensure cartridge sits over posts when re-installing (or you won’t have enough room for the plug)!

To get the strongest lead retention, make sure you allow some slack inside the unit for the cleats to tighten against (as per the engravings on the housing and these pictures)!
